I am from Sweden and have been sent an embroidery from a friend in the US. There are some things on the pattern that I don't understand. In the same square you would have "y/x" where y would be one color and x another color and the slash would be the backstitch. How should I do these stitches, is it two small complete crosstitches and then backstitch running thru them? if I am supposed to do two small complete crosstitches how do I do them?

Stupid question, perhaps, but I have never seen it before on a pattern, and it is very frustrating indeed.

Usually when there is a stitch like this shown it means that it's a full cross, but in two colours.

There is not usually a back stitch running through it (unless the slash is the same weight as the other back stitch lines), but is the deliniation between the two colours.

In this example, there would be two "/" stitches (on in each colour). The top of the "" arm of the cross would be in one colour and the bottom in another.

Does this make sense? What I'll do is stitch a quick sample, and post a URL to the picture so you can see what I mean.
