My grandmother (bigmomma) shared with me that oatmeal is a very healthy food to eat. She told me that it is good for cholesterol.

I now eat oatmeal most days for breakfast.

Very cool. I do the same. I have 1/2 cup of plain Quaker oatmeal with a small spoonful of real peanut butter and then some sort of fruit mixed in (usually apples, bananas, strawberries, or raisins). To cool it off after I heat it up in the microwave I put a little bit of milk on it. Mmm, it makes my stomach grumble just thinking about it.

yum, sounds great. I never thought of the peanut butter before. Great way to spice up my breakfast.

Oatmeal is also a great source of fiber. I try to eat it for breakfast as well!

What's "real peanut butter"? Is there some that's not "real"?

I really like oatmeal, too, especially the "old fashioned" oatmeal in which you actually cook it on the stove top (my kids love it, too). I like cutting up some type of fruit to put in it or honey and I usually splash it with low-fat or skim milk. It's great! It seems to keep me fuller longer in the morning.

I too love oatmeal. Especially steel cut oatmeal. It has real substance! I top it with skim milk and a handful of blueberries. YUMMY!

I had to check out this thread because I was just sticking a spoonful of oatmeal in my mouth when I saw the title. I keep packets of Quaker Instant Oatmeal in my desk drawer and eat it every morning. It fills me up and keeps me away from the pastries at the Starbucks downstairs.

Mother always said that even when things seem bad there's someone else who's having a worse day. Like being stung by a bee or getting a splinter or being chained to the wall in someone's sex dungeon.
