Between cooking, cleaning, laundry, and more how do you fit in time for your spouse? By the end of the day, my husband & I are so tired.

My husband and I were married in 1980, and we've kept our marriage running by planning the time together, regardless of energy or anything else. We plan dates to get away from the children and the phones. Every night we talk for a while before going to bed, and if my husband is on a business trip or one of us is going to be out late, we have our conversation by telephone. If you don't have a plan, it's easy to get too busy for each other. My kids are involved with a play and I hadn't been home all last week-I left before he got home and was home after he was in bed-so my husband came to "visit" me and spend a few hours at the church before going home. He was tired, but we both know how important that time together is.

I suppose Newlywed life is also just hectic. It's kind of funny since we got marrired to see each other more. It's worth it though.

We can definitely get into ruts where we're both working until 2am or later and there isn't any free time left to do anything at all, not even housework. But we try to take a step back when that happens and take a break to watch a movie or just take a walk. You need to set aside time for just you two, not to assume it'll happen "in between other stuff", since "other stuff" can easily take over your entire life Your relationship is just as important as anything else and deserves the same time.

Laundry and dishes can wait - heck, you probably have clean clothes left to wear and might even find some interesting clothes in the back of your closet. If the hamper sits for another day, that's fine, if it means you can spend the evening snuggling ...

Ditto to everything Terri and Lisa wrote: make time for the important people and things - the time for laundry, cleaning, car detailing, etc., will come!!

We are clean people, but the laundry basket may still be full and sitting in the laundryroom when you stop in or the dishwasher may be going..... taking time for your spouse (and later, even separating time for the "family" to be together) makes all the difference in your family, YOUR life and an indelible impression on your spouse and your (future??) children!!!!

That's so true, when you get to the end of a year you rarely say "I wish I'd spent more time doing laundry!" But those special evenings together - whether it's watching a gorgeous sunset or just watching the fire - stay with you forever
