this sounds interesting. I will have to try it. Avon seems to come up with multi-use products without trying, like the Skin SO Soft that also repels bugs. At first, that was unintentional, and now they promote that aspect! LOL

Actually I hate to bust that myth but I was an Avon lady for a while and while everyone claimed that was true, studies show that it's not true at all. Last year I did a whole series of tests with all the "claims" of mosquito repellants. Pretty much none of them worked except DEET

I wrote it up here -

http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art12008.asp

"Research studies on mosquito bites (I would hate to be a volunteer for that study!!) show that while DEET creams can keep mosquitoes at bay for 5 hours or more, Skin so Soft barely lasted 9 minutes before the mosquitoes decided the person was fair game."

They do actually have a Skin so Soft now that they added a pesticide into, so that's how they handled it

I do have some experience with Skin so Soft, since I worked as a canoe guide in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota (big bad bug capital). And I do agree that the DEET products are the only thing an active person can use to keep the buggers away. However, after I settled into camp (after putting up the tents, fires, changing shoes, cooking, etc), and it was time to read or relax, that's when I pulled out the Avon product. If you are NOT MOVING (as in not sweating and breathing hard), this gentle product did keep mosquitoes at bay from my hands and face.

Of course, it's really just best to camp in a sunny, breezy spot and retreat to your netted tent at dusk.

I tried to avoid DEET products where possible, since it is so toxic. But it DOES work so well; it's hard to resist.
