Oprah Winfrey is this year's recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award, given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at the Golden Globes. The ceremony will be televised Jan. 7th on NBC.
Director-producer Ava Duvernay, who developed the series "Queen Sugar" for Winfrey's OWN network, will receive the Visionary Award from the Producer's Guild at the 29th annual Producer's Guild Awards on January 20th. DuVernay is being recognized for her inspiring storytelling and focus on important social issues.
