It's wonderful that you have such a great attitude. Your son will be better for it.
I have a relative who has been diagnosed with Asperger's and someone close to me who is considering the possibility of this diagnosis. The obsessive/compulsive aspect can be something that outsiders can be incredibly unkind about. If the person feels accepted by those they love, I think their lives can be so much more fulfilling.
